The Lake District Gilpin Hotel, home to Michelin-starred HRiSHi restaurant, receives five AA red stars
A luxury hotel in the Lake District that is home to a Michelin-starred restaurant has received five AA red stars in the automobile association’s latest round of awards.
The Gilpin Hotel and Lake House in Windermere received the prestigious award in a virtual ceremony this morning (October 18).
It was only one of two hotels to be awarded the AA maximum five stars.
The awards are intended to recognize hotels that provide the best customer service and the highest levels of service.

It came after the AA inspector praised the place, describing it as “the very essence of an urban and luxurious retreat.”
The resort is accessible from Crook Road and consists of the Gilpin Hotel which has 28 lake view rooms as well as six garden suites with their own hot tubs. There are also five spa pavilions with their own en-suite spa – and three even larger ones called spa suites.
The inspector particularly praised the on-site restaurants, the Michelin-starred HRiSHi restaurant and the Gilpin Spice restaurant.
The AA inspector said: “Set in 22 acres of paradisiacal gardens and woodlands near Windermere, the Cunliffe family’s quiet hole is the essence of an urban and luxurious retreat, furnished in a contemporary style. elegant and without a hint of chintz.
“The individually designed rooms are spacious and elegant, each with a private sitting area, most with their own patio and outdoor hot tub, and some with private spa facilities. The welcoming atmosphere is remarkable and the comfortable lounge is perfect to relax.
Eating in one of the three HRiSHi dining rooms is a must, while the Gilpin Spice restaurant is located within the grounds and worth a visit. The Lake House located one mile from the main hotel offers six guest rooms. additional, spa and stunning lake views. “
