Six restaurant bars fined 50,000 rupees each for violating COVID-19 standards

Last week, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) task force took strict action against six restaurants and bars in Belapur and Koparkhairane for being operational after 10 p.m., in blatant violation of COVID-19 guidelines. As per state government and local agency guidelines, all restaurants and bars are permitted to operate until 10 p.m. only.

The ‘Rain Forest Resto-Bar’ in sector 11 in Belapur and the ‘Manisha Bar and Restaurant’ in sector 15 in Belapur were found to be active after 10 p.m. on September 22. The ‘Metro Bar’ in Sector 15 in Koparkhairane also turned out to be open. The task force fined the three restaurants and bars 50,000 rupees for violating COVID-19 standards.

The task force had previously fined “Live It Up Restaurant and Bar” in Sector 19 D in Vashi, “Mayur Restaurant and Bar” in Sector 5 in Koparkhairane, and “Bigg Boss” Bar in Sector 11 in CBD Belapur for running until 11 p.m.

“As this was their first violation, they were fined 50,000 rupees. If they are found in violation for the second time, their bar and restaurant will be closed for 7 days, ”said a senior city official. He added that if they continue to violate, their facility will be closed until the end of the COVID pandemic.

Since August 10, 2020, task forces have collected Rs. 3 91 07 100 in fines from citizens and establishments for violating COVID standards in the city.

Although the NMMC aggressively vaccinates people against COVID-19, to avoid a possible third wave of COVID, the civic body has called on citizens to strictly adhere to COVID-19 standards such as wearing masks, maintaining social distancing and keeping your hands clean.
