Pass the pintxos: This might be Vancouver’s best happy hour

Como Taperia’s happy hour means free tapas with every drink order. Were in.

Summer is here (well, in theory anyway) and the world is (almost) open, which means people are heading back to Europe. But if you’re not ready to ditch the dough for a Spanish vacation, you can always enjoy a traditional Spanish-style happy hour at Como Taperia.

If you’ve never been to Spain, let me explain the brilliant concept of happy hour. You walk to a bar and stand at the counter while you order a drink…and then receive a free tapa to go with it. Yes, you get free snacks with your drink. With every drink.

Como took this famous concept and put it to use a few years ago, and we’re so glad it’s finally back. The Main Street eatery is known for its killer tapas selection (I like the goat cheese stuffed peppers) and now you can try some tasty bites for free because starting June 1, from 4-5 p.m. guests who stand at the bar, get free tapas with every drink order.

If staying at the bar isn’t your thing, you can still take advantage of a pretty solid happy hour deal if you grab a table. Restaurant and patio patrons get 25% off most food items, plus many drink specials. Think sangria for $10, Estrella Damm for $6 and 40% off all bottles of wine.

June 1 also marks the official opening of the patio of Como. However, time permitting, because however much we want to get lost in the Spanish fantasy, it’s still, well, Vancouver.
