Live updates from Harlow as firefighters tackle restaurant blaze in Fore Street

Essex firefighters tackle a fire at a two-storey restaurant after it caught fire in the early hours of the morning. A team of six fire crews from Essex and Hertfordshire rushed to Fore Street, Harlow at around 4am today (April 14).

The Essex County Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the incident on Twitter at 5:45 a.m. The fire department encountered a smoke-filled building with flames ripping through the restaurant from the roof.

Crews divided the area into sectors to enable them to surround the fire and secure the scene as quickly as possible. At 6:30 a.m., the team brought the fire under control.

While the flames are now extinguished, the firefighters are still on the scene, to cool the building and then carry out investigative work. People have been asked to avoid the area and a road closure is in place.

James Taylor, group manager with the Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, said: “We will likely be here for some time to secure the scene before we complete an investigation into the fire to understand the cause of the fire. the fire.

“With that in mind, please avoid the area if you plan to travel this morning and allow extra time for your trip if you live or work nearby. Thank you for your cooperation.”
