‘It’s a shock’: Well-known Oakville restaurants are temporarily closed for in-person meals and take-out due to increasing number of COVID-19 cases
Some well-known Oakville restaurants have made a difficult decision for the immediate future.
Inside Halton has learned that restaurants such as Plank Resto Bar, The Fire Hall, Por Vida Mezcal & Mexican and Cucci, all under the Catch Hospitality Group umbrella, have temporarily closed their doors for meals and take-out, at the less until December 29.
“As we all know the number of cases in Halton is increasing and although there has been no government direction to cease operations, out of caution and to protect the health and safety of our staff, our guests and the community as a whole, we have made a decision to put on-site dining and take-out at all of our restaurants effective immediately, âCatch Hospitality said in an online statement.â Our intention is to close for a while. week and reopen for dinner service on December 29.
Management will “be monitoring the situation closely” and update if there are any changes to this decision on December 27.
âWe apologize for any inconvenience and would like to take this time to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season from everyone here at Catch Hospitality,â the company said.
The news of the sudden closure surprised some longtime patrons of some restaurants.
“It’s a shock for sure,” said Mary Deiana, a regular at the fire station. “They (Catch Hospitality) are a fixture here in South Oakville and even during the lockdown their take out was busy.”
John Davidovic also expressed his “disappointment” at the closures.
“I understand why they are doing it and that is a good thing,” he said. “Hopefully the cases go down.”
