THERE ARE plenty of high scores – but still lows – handed out to restaurants on the Island after the latest batch of food safety standards assessments from inspectors.
Restaurants, cafes and food producing businesses on the Isle of Wight are rated on a scale from 0 “Urgent improvement needed” to 5 “Very good”, following government guidelines from the Food Standards Agency.
Inspections are carried out by Isle of Wight Council Environmental Health Officers, where establishments are classified into three categories: hygienic food handling, cleanliness and condition of facilities, and food safety management.
A score is then given to the company to determine how safe and clean it is, but how satisfactory have recent inspections been?
