Cagayan City vice mayor and 3 others charged with murdering shopkeeper
TUGUEGARAO CITY—Vice Mayor Matthew Nolasco of Gattaran City, Cagayan Province, and three others have been charged with murder in connection with the killing of a local businessman in December this year last.
The Cagayan Provincial Prosecutor’s Office filed the murder case in the regional trial court in Aparri City on July 13. Details were released on Wednesday July 20 to the media.
Nolasco and his three alleged cohorts were charged with killing Jefferson Torricer, a 29-year-old restaurant-bar trader in Barangay Magapit, Lal-lo town, also in Cagayan, on December 5.
Nolasco, who was mayor at the time of the murder, allegedly shot Torricer. His acolytes would have manhandled the victim. No surety was recommended.
The deputy mayor was not immediately available for comment. INQ
