12 new restaurants and menus to watch this month
It’s great to see the culinary world booming, especially after it’s been one of the hardest hit industries during the pandemic. And now, every month sees chefs introducing new menus or new restaurants. With so much on our plate, we are spoiled for choice! Whether you want to gorge on hummus and pita overlooking the sea in Goa, indulge in orange-infused dishes at an Italian restaurant in Mumbai, or even sip coffee beans in an artistic atmosphere in Bengaluru, here is all the new restaurants and new menus to bookmark this month!
1. Izumi, Assagao (Goa)
Your favorite Japanese outpost is now in Goa! So if you ever fancy a platter of sushi or a bowl of ramen, you know where to go. Along with its signature dishes, the new venue also features an outdoor yakitori grill overlooking a foliage-covered pool and an interesting cocktail menu using Japanese ingredients like shiso leaves, sakura cordial and of course miso-washed whiskey. We are definitely adding Izumi to our itinerary for our next vacation in Goa!

2. The Game Palacio, Elante Mall (Chandigarh)
Mumbai knows this bowling and entertainment saloon well. And now even Chandigarh can taste it with Game Palacio making its way to the city. The arcade section has a bunch of fun games you can play and let’s not forget that bowling alley, where you can enjoy drinks and a bowl! When you’re done enjoying the gaming arena, head to the bar for the innovative cocktail menu and sit down for a comforting meal with dishes ranging from risotto to charcoal chicken, Burrata pizza, Mediterranean chicken pizza with Tikka pesto. This is the ideal meeting place for you and your team.

3. BrewDog, Bandra West (Mumbai)
Beer is undoubtedly a great summer drink to beat the heat! Want to try new craft beers? Just head to the last BrewDog outpost in Bandra. And the best part is that it’s pet-friendly, so you can take your four-legged friend with you as a date!

4. Blabber, East Borivali (Mumbai)
Head to this new cafe and bar with European influences. It has two floors – each floor has a different vibe, a quaint cafe atmosphere on the ground floor and a full bar on the first floor. The cuisine caters to all palates with its dishes and cocktails inspired by many cultures around the world. Some of the must-haves include Korean Cheese Garlic Bread, Dabeli Bao, American Fried Chicken Sandwich, Tadka Hummus, Devil Soya Chaap. And don’t forget to try the exquisite cocktail menu with drinks such as the Garden in a glass, the passion fruit martini, the whiskey-based Forbidden, the Skinny Margarita, the Popcorn Sour.

5. Rosie & Tillie, Saket (New Delhi)
Located in the DLF Avenue COMMONS, this experiential space is brunch by day (Rosie) and cocktail by night (Tillie), transitioning from a café by day to a gastropub by night. Rosie offers a range of breakfast, artisan coffee and main course options (Ham-shuka and Pea & Basil Cappelletti are must-haves) by chef Anukriti Anand. Your lunch will be incomplete without the Imitation Tiramisu, a version drizzled with Bailey’s dipped almond jaconde, white chocolate namelaka and coffee almond tuile. It’s a change of mood after 7 p.m. Tillie welcomes you with an exemplary cocktail menu. When it comes to the menu, you’ll be taken on a savory journey with offerings like Eggplant Karaage with Sticky Pineapple Teriyaki, Thai Spicy Chicken Schnitzel, and Pork Me.

6. Raki, The Crescent Hotel, Goa
Say hello to Goa’s tallest rooftop resto-bar, 11and floor of the Crescent Hotel, overlooking the Miramar waterfront. Raki Modern Mezze serves modern Mediterranean cuisine. Inspired by Turkey’s national drink, raki is a liqueur made from twice-distilled grapes and anise. This sumptuous space is the first in the country to serve Raki. The drink is also called lion’s milk because of its cloudy appearance and is served here as an aperitif. On top of that, the drink menu includes classics and Goan-inspired cocktails such as Alphonso Punch, Beyond the Horizon, Tokyo to Beirut, to name a few. The menu offers a variety of lip-smacking dishes like Labneh Za’atar, different types of hummus (you have to try the Edamame Hummus with Chorizo), Toum & Harissa, Feta & Okra Gozleme, and the Pides with truffle oil and burrata cheese among others – yum! Most of the spices used in this menu are imported from the Middle East, so expect authentic flavors.

7. Maverick & Farmer, Ulsoor (Bengaluru)
The local coffee brand is now bringing its new bean-to-cup coffee to the city. The brand conducts experiments at its Pollibetta estate, Coorg, which serves as a lab where their beers are conceptualized and brought to the cafe. Some of these craft flavors are Cinnamon Almond Coffee, Vietnamese Coffee, Coffee Cherry Soda (made from the fruity part of the coffee cherry, this drink is refreshing, fruity and contains antioxidants), Clarified Cappuccino (an 8oz cappuccino made with the perfect milk-to-espresso ratio is clarified using a technique borrowed from a different stream of food science. This introduces you to an almost clear brewed cappuccino with aromas of fruit and rosemary). And while you sip adorable coffee, take a moment to soak up the artistic interiors. For those cravings. dishes like The Square Burgers, Pastrami Sandwich, Pulled Pork Sandwich, Chocolate Banana Cake and Apple Pie await. What else? The cafe has free Wi-Fi and is pet friendly!

8. Independence Brewing Company, Kalyani Nagar (Pune)
The city has a new brewery, the Independence Brewing Company! Known for its craft beers, this spacious spot is a great hangout to kick back and relax with your friends. Pair your favorite beer with their delicious menu that offers mouth-watering dishes from European, Lebanese/Turkish cuisine. There is also a live pizza corner with an Anatoli pizza oven to provide you with great pizzas – a great accompaniment to your beer for sure!

1. Sorrentina, Battle of Oranges (Khar West, Mumbai)
Sorrentina celebrates the unique Italian tradition Carnevale D’ivrea – the Battle of the Oranges, a customary festival in the northern Italian town of Ivrea to welcome the arrival of spring. If you like this citrus fruit, go to the Italian restaurant to taste their special menu. You can start small plates with dishes like Crostone (grilled butter ciabatta topped with stracciatella, zucchini, escabage and orange vinaigrette) and Barramundi Polpete which consists of steamed fish stuffing, melted butter, of orange and capers Aglio e olio. Pizza lovers will love the Alla Putanesca (a Marinara base topped with fresh mozzarella and other condiments) or Ndujia (a Bianco base with fresh thyme, Ndujia, orange wedges, stracciatella, red pepper). If you like pasta, choose from Gnocchi All Arancia (glazed gnocchi with orange, fresh chilli, pistachios) or the Rosso Ravioli (a blush sauce, capellini orange and ricotta, seasonal chilli and dehydrated orange). And if you have room for the main course, try the Soy Salmon (seared salmon, fried garlic, orange and soy emulsion, seared broccolini) or the Pork Chop (glazed pork chop with orange chili, dried fruit gremolata, mash bacon, candy corn. Do you like the orange and chocolate combo? Then opt for the Java cake for desserts. It has an orange marmalade center and a dark chocolate outer coating. It’s safe to say that with this menu, you will get a good dose of vitamin C!

2. Hakkasan, the plum blossom menu
Head to the Pan-Asian restaurant for an elevated five-course dining experience with iconic Cantonese delicacies. Start your meal with your choice of Hot & Sour Soups or Sweet Corn Soup (available in veg and non-veg). The second course includes Hakkasan’s signature hot dim sum where you can choose two dishes from options such as Spicy Chicken Dumpling, Edamame Truffle Dumpling, Crispy Duck Roll, Carrot Cake, among others. For the main course, choose from wok dishes like Stir-fried Lamb Fillet with Black Pepper Sauce, Sanpei Claypot Chicken, Chilli Shrimp with Mantou, and Stir-Fried Green Beans. Your Cantonese experience will be incomplete without the hand-pulled Hakka noodles, spring onion egg fried rice, or vegetable fried rice. An apple-vanilla crème brûlée or a dark chocolate mousse will delight you. But if you prefer to keep it light towards the end, you can also sip a soothing cup of bespoke tea like Jasmine Green Tea as part of your experience.

3. The sassy spoon, Parsi Bhonu menu
Treat yourself to an exquisite dining experience of Iranian delights with a modern twist with this limited edition Navroz menu. The festive spread features a wide variety of authentic dishes ranging from starters including Cyrus Dastur’s Shrimp Patio on Khari Toast, Chicken Farcha and Mixed Vegetable Patio on Khari to mains such as Caramelized Brown Rice with Dhansak, Berry Mutton Pulao with Kachumber, Patrani Macchi and more! The menu also features sweet confections like Memas’ Ravo, Lagan Nu Custard and Bun Maska Marmalade Pudding – we’re already salivating!

4. Jamjar, Aritsan Pizza Menu (Bandra West & Versova, Mumbai)
When I crave good pasta, Jamjar is one of my favorite places. But this time I can’t wait to go for their new artisan pizza menu. Vegetarians can indulge in the Truffle Shuffle (White Pie) with mushroom béchamel, shiitake, truffle oil and olives; 4-cheese crisp with mozzarella, goat cheese, parmesan and burnt cheddar crust; Goat cheese and caramelized onion with balsamic and basil. While non-vegetarians will love the Chicken Cafreal cheddar, jalapenos, pickled peppers, cilantro; the ‘Goan Choriz’ with feta, green onion and potato salli; or the Pig Out with pepperoni, bacon and goan choriz.
