Local food maker Hoshay has collaborated with various dining establishments across the island, bringing you delicious herbal and meatless delights packed with plant-based protein. We’ve compiled a list of 10 places to eat!
1. Tonichi Tsukemen
You don’t have to miss your ramen fix even if you don’t eat meat. ramen restaurant Tonichi Tsukemen offers a range of vegetarian entrees and side dishes that feature the Hoshay line of products. Enjoy the Veggie Tsukemen with Herbal Unagi (from $15.50++): Handmade cold noodles topped with tamago and a slice of teriyaki-glazed “unagi” that’s charred like the real deal. This hearty dish is also accompanied by a thick and flavorful broth. Alternatively, opt for the Herbal Unagi Don ($10.90++) if you prefer rice.

2. Ola’s Beach Club
Beachgoers can also try the herbal unagi at Ola’s Beach Club; there is a Unagi Poke Bowl ($20++) which features the same ‘unagi’, made with textured vegetable protein, glazed with a sweet teriyaki sauce, and garnished with seaweed. If pasta is your favorite, try it. Tomato Meatball Pasta ($15++)a child-friendly dish featuring spaghetti, large mushroom balls and a homemade tomato-based sauce with garlic and herbs.

3. Hinode Sake Bar & Grill
Hinode sake bar and grill is a laid-back Japanese bar in Chinatown, popular for its delicious yet affordable maki platters, yakitori items, and hearty donations. The restaurant has also recently introduced a few plant-based dishes to the menu, including soy Hoshay Crisp Fried Chicken ($7.90+) and Herbal Teriyaki Unagi ($9.80+)perfect for sharing if you’re visiting with vegan friends.
For something more substantial, get the Gift Unagi ($10.80+)which features short-grain rice paired with Hoshay’s signature herbal unagi: seaweed tofu pavé drizzled with a sweet teriyaki glaze, garnished with sesame seeds.

Healthy meal preparation service fitthree added a brand new Teriyaki Mushroom Patty ($13.40) to their menu, so subscribers can look forward to trying this plant-based item. It includes a thick patty made with mushrooms in a teriyaki sauce, strips of seaweed, and chopped spring onions to cut the “meat” flavor. Accompanied by rice, mixed vegetables, shiitake mushrooms and corn edamame, this meal also comes with a sous vide egg and pickled ginger.

5. Q-WA Bar & Yakitori
Easties can visit Q-WA Bar & Yakitori, a cozy izakaya-themed gourmet bar that’s perfect for small get-togethers. Here you will find the same herbal products Crispy Fried Chicken ($12.90++) and Teriyaki Unagi ($12.90++) of Hoshay. The latter is soft and juicy with a layer of seaweed to add umami. Each side is complete with a side salad to cut through the richness.

This low carb dish features Hoshay’s plant-based shiitake mushroom meatballs paired with a without meat tomato sauce.

Dine in the gardens of canopy, an all-day dining restaurant nestled in Bishan Park. Surrounded by lush greenery, the airy restaurant has both indoor seating and a spacious outdoor space that’s also pet-friendly. Start with the Hoshay Crispy Fried Chicken ($15++): soy-based breaded bites perfect for sharing. Alternatively, opt for the Hoshay Tomato Mushroom Meatballs ($15++)served with a spicy tomato-based sauce.

This cozy and relaxed vegetarian cafe serves hearty meatless dishes in generous portions, including the new herbal Gift Unagi ($12.90): Charred hoshay unagi with edamame, purple cabbage, lettuce and cherry tomatoes, served on a bed of brown rice.

Old School Delights is a popular cafe serving delicious local dishes in a retro setting. Here you will find the Herbal Nasi Lemak ($12+), which cleverly incorporates Hoshay’s fried “chicken” for a crispy, flavorful, meatless bite. The dish also comes with homemade tauhu goreng – deep-fried tau kwa dipped in peanut sauce – roasted peanuts, sweet sambal and fragrant coconut rice, topped with a fried egg.
